I survived Quilt Festival.....

But just barely.....

and I did manage to keep enough money to come home on....

but just barely....

I mean look at these fat quarters....
and these....

and patterns....

I was in overload after two days at market....
and then Brenda and I stayed for festival where we had a booth and I finally had to tell her not to let me go to the bathroom anymore...
everytime I went I bought something on the way back....
I mean we were just two aisles away from FriendFolks, Tricia Cribbs booth, designer of the Turning Twenty books.
And in the aisle behind us was Bird Brain Designs...

How could I resist more redwork patterns?

I have 143 pictures on my camera and I am not going to post them all.  But over the next few days I will share some of them with all of you who did not get to go.

It was wonderful and I am already looking forward to going back next year!

Loving the beach....

Yes!  Those are my toes!  Covered with one of my favorite things....sand!
I love water...especially when it is attached to a really big body of water.

Ok...enough with the toes.

This is what I want you to see.....
My baby rag quilt.
I had most of it together before we went to Florida....but I couldn't wait to get it finished, washed and dried.  I love it.
I also worked on my twister mug rugs....
I love my little twister....as everyone knows...and these little mug rugs are a great way to play with different fabrics on a small scale....easy to pack up for a get-a-way.
I am trying to make a different one for everyone in my garden club.

But I also tried a new project...
I love this fabric at Mama's Quilt Shop and I want to make something soft and antique looking out of it....so I tried Slapplique...by Tricia Cribbs.  I always make just one square to see how it is going to look...and I loved it.  I have cut out the squares that I need to make a lap size throw for my living room and I really am looking forward to putting it together.  It came out so soft.  I am planning on using this orphan block on a pillow or tote.

Ok...if you stayed with me this long...hop on over to Bits and Pieces, our blog for the quilt shop and check out my surprise give-a-way....

Have a great day!

Raindrops keep falling on our heads....

This was my workplace the day after Hurricane Isaac decided to make a lake out of it.  We had no electricity until Friday evening.  The employees were sure happy to get back to work.

I was so blessed....I live about 60 miles north of New Orleans so I had a lot of wind and rain, but I did not lose power until 10 pm the night of the hurricane.  I kept busy so I wouldn't be in a panic as the wind whipped thru my trees in my yard.  I live on a little higher ground so no flooding in my little part of the world.  We are still praying for those in South Louisiana who are under water.   My heart goes out to them.

I made my first rag quilt.....I love it!

Oops...got a little ahead of myself....had to get the seam ripper out and turn that last row around the right way.  But this was so fun and the best part....when you are finished...you are finished.  All you have to do is wash and dry it!

I can't wait to make another one!

I'll be back in a few days to tell you about some wonderful quilters I finally got to meet this last Saturday.  I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I have met because of quilting.

Please keep us in your prayers and keep on quilting!

I am so excited!
It's my turn to put up my blocks!
There have been so many beautiful ones, so inventive and creative.

I love being an American!  I love waving the flag!

So here goes.....

I love pinwheels!  And this fabric reminded me of Civil War times.  The soft muted red, rich blue and florals.  I bought enough of this fabric to continue making blocks.  I would love to make and finish a quilt for the Quilts of Valor.  Our veterans deserve our tributes.

Then for fun....
I did this....

Everyone who knows me, knows I love my "lil twister".  So I decided to play a little.
It was fun and made me smile.

Be sure you go and enjoy the others that are being posted today.
July 15th

Super talented women.

Thank you Madame Samm and Jane for hosting this blog hop and for allowing me to participate.

I am so blessed.....

My mug rug partner, Anthea, over at Hibiscus Stitches, sent me these stunning mug rugs all the way from Australia!  They are too beautiful to ever set a coffee cup on!  I have them up on my sewing room wall just to enjoy!  I expected something pretty....just not this pretty!

She checked out my website, chose gardening fabrics, threw in some fabulous embroidery and lace from her Grandmother's stash and I am thrilled!

I also have already tried some of the Australian tea and it was great.

Her package is on the way....I am always late with everything....and I hope she likes it as well as I liked hers!

I try harder....this is my gift to my Pokeno partner this month....finally got the binding sewed down.

Hope she likes it!

Have a great day!  I know I will!
